Abdali Hospital has started the operations of a new Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center to manage overweight and obesity comprehensively. The Center provides diagnosis and a holistic range of medical and surgical treatments, in addition to lifestyle changes. It ensures that the most appropriate treatment is recommended to each patient following the latest evidence-based guidelines, internationally.

Medical treatment include medications to manage underlying causes of obesity, under the supervision of endocrinologists or gastroenterologists specialised in weight management. The Center provides Intragastric Balloon Insertion and Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty procedures for patients who are eligible. The surgical team performs all procedures of bariatric surgery including Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Laparoscopic RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery and Laparoscopic Single Anastomosis Gastric bypass, Laparoscopic Revision and Conversion operations for all types of previously performed bariatric surgeries after choosing the best for the patient. Esophageal Reflux and Laparoscopic Hiatal Hernia Repair and other latest and most important surgeries for obesity and metabolic diseases, which are internationally approved. The Center also provides a Programmed Balloon (Smart Capsule).

The Centre is run by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including bariatric surgeons, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, dietitians, psychologists, and clinical bariatric nurse. They are supported by physical therapists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, anaesthesiologists, interventional radiologists and plastic surgeons, in which all dissolve into a multidisciplinary approach for management of obesity.
