Jordan Football Association Partners with Abdali Hospital and The Hashemite University to Launch a National Sports Medicine Initiative
The Jordan Football Association (JFA) has signed a cooperation agreement with Abdali Hospital and The Hashemite University to launch an integrated national sports medicine initiative aimed at advancing sports healthcare in Jordan. The project will establish a specialized national football database to support research and scientific studies across Jordan and the region, while also developing and training medical and technical professionals according to the latest international standards.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, July 22, at the JFA headquarters in the presence of JFA Secretary General Samar Nassar, Professor Khaled Al-Hiyari, President of The Hashemite University, and Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board at Abdali Hospital.
The partnership reflects a shared vision among the three institutions to build a sustainable ecosystem that integrates medical, academic, and sports expertise. The initiative focuses on enhancing sports medicine services, strengthening injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play programs, and conducting specialized research on athletes' health and performance to provide a scientific reference that benefits football in Jordan and the wider region.
Under the agreement, the Jordan Football Association will oversee the management of the project, coordinate football-related medical services, rehabilitation, performance, and return-to-play programs, and provide training and development opportunities for university students in relevant medical and sports disciplines.
As the project's specialized medical partner, Abdali Hospital will provide advanced clinical expertise and facilities, including medical and surgical services, rehabilitation, and specialized care in sports medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, and other disciplines related to athletes' health.
The Hashemite University will lead the academic and research component by providing laboratories and testing facilities for national team players, leveraging its expertise in sports science, exercise physiology, and biomechanics, while contributing to the publication of research findings and the advancement of knowledge in sports medicine.
JFA Secretary General Samar Nassar stated that the agreement represents a significant milestone, emphasizing that major achievements can only be realized through collaboration between national institutions. She highlighted the importance of building sustainable partnerships with academic and medical sectors while fostering a culture of scientific research, innovation, and excellence to support Jordanian football and sports in general.
She added that the initiative is part of the Association's broader vision to develop sports medicine in Jordan and supports one of its strategic objectives of obtaining accreditation as an AFC Health and Medical Centre of Excellence, further strengthening Jordan's position as a regional hub for excellence in sports medicine.
Professor Khaled Al-Hiyari, President of The Hashemite University, described the partnership as an advanced national model for collaboration between higher education institutions and the sports and healthcare sectors. He noted that it reflects the Royal vision of investing in Jordanian talent, promoting innovation, and building a knowledge-based economy through scientific research that serves national priorities and enhances Jordan's competitiveness.
He added that the University views the initiative as a national platform that brings together academic expertise, clinical practice, and the technical needs of football, contributing to scientific advancement, injury prevention, improved treatment and rehabilitation programs, and the preparation of highly qualified national specialists.
Concluding the ceremony, Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board at Abdali Hospital, said:
