X-ray Technician

Job Summary

  • The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing general diagnostic x-ray procedures on fixed or mobile imaging systems.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic general x-ray and fluoroscopy procedures using fixed or mobile systems and operating room/endoscopy C-ARM procedures in accordance with the standards and policies established by the employer's radiology.
  • Demonstrate a high level of patient care.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Ensure that correct patient and correct procedure.
  • Ensure that all patient data are accurate and entered as required into the radiology information system (RIS), picture archive and communication system (PACS).
  • Correctly apply radiation protection devices (collimation, lead apron shielding), to avoid exposure to areas of the body not being studied.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions
  • Prepare patient for radiologist procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors
  • Minimize radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
  • Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department and based on radiology manager instructions. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department.
  • Assess in radiology KPI’s.
  • Contributes to AH and radiology accreditation.
  • Adhere to AH and radiology policies.
  • Produces diagnostic images in assigned area and performs quality control tasks as assigned.
  • Screens patients before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to the examination.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience
  • Minimum diploma preferred B.Sc. degree in radiologic technology
  • Preferred of 2 years clinical licensed experience in a recognized hospital
  • Good in English –oral and written.

Working conditions

  • Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department.
