Job Summary
The Emergency Department Nursing Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all nursing activities within the Emergency Department at Abdali Hospital. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality patient care, effective staff management, operational efficiency, and compliance with healthcare standards and protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
▪ Oversee the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered care within the Emergency Department.
▪ Ensure timely triage, assessment, and management of patients based on their acuity levels.
▪ Support nursing staff in handling complex clinical cases and emergencies.
▪Maintain compliance with clinical protocols and guidelines.
▪Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Leadership and Management
▪ Lead and inspire the nursing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
▪ Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
▪ Conduct performance evaluations and mentor staff to achieve professional growth.
▪ Address and resolve conflicts within the team effectively.
▪ Ensure efficient resource utilization, including equipment, supplies, and staff.
▪ Utilize effective communication strategies to collaborate and interact with staff, patients and other healthcare professionals.
▪ Demonstrate respect and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with others.
▪ Participate in committees, task forces, projects and other duties as requested/delegated by the director of nursing.

Education & Continuing Professional Development
▪ Promote lifelong learning by organizing training sessions, workshops, and educational activities for the nursing team.
▪ Ensure nursing staff stays updated on current best practices, clinical advancements, and certifications.
▪ Collaborate with Abdali Hospital’s education department to align professional development initiatives with organizational goals.
▪ Encourage participation in conferences, seminars, and external learning opportunities.
▪ Support new nurses through onboarding, orientation, and mentorship programs.
Quality, Safety & Risk Management
▪ Adhere to and support all defined standards, processes, policies and procedures.
▪ Participate in the development of policies and change management activities.
▪ Develop and implement quality improvement projects focused on patient safety and satisfaction.
▪ Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), such as patient waiting times, complaints and adverse events.
▪ Ensure adherence to infection control policies and safety protocols.
▪ Adopt a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring risk assessments are conducted, appropriate actions are taken, and all incidents, near misses and hazards are reported.
▪ Lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate risks within the Emergency Department.
▪ Actively participate in audits and safety inspections.
Confidentiality
▪ Ensure compliance with Abdali Hospital’s privacy policies and patient confidentiality laws.
▪ Promote best practices for safeguarding patient information among staff
▪ Conduct regular audits to verify proper handling and storage of sensitive data.
▪ Educate staff about the importance of confidentiality in the workplace.
▪Investigate and address breaches of confidentiality in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
ESSENTIAL:
▪ BSc. in Nursing
▪ Nursing license.
▪ ACLS.
DESIRABLE:
▪ Master’s degrees in nursing or any related field
▪ Postgraduate management qualification.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL:
▪ Minimum of 10 years’ experience, half of them at management and a supervisory role in an Emergency Department.
▪ Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
▪ Evidence of continuous education and professional development.
▪ Knowledge of healthcare quality standards and emergency care protocols.
▪ Demonstrated competency in English language proficiency, computer literacy, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
DESIRABLE:
▪ More than 15 years’ experience
▪ Previous experience with the accreditation processes an advantage
▪ A record of effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
