Emergency Medicine Clinical Director

Job Summary:

The Emergency Medicine Clinical Director is responsible for the successful planning, directing and coordination of medical services provided in the Emergency Medicine Unit.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and directs the overall activities of medical services in Emergency Medicine Unit to ensure that effective and efficient utilization of resources are directed towards the accomplishment of its approved mission, goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with Nursing leadership and hospital administration to ensure the ED care delivery model achieves high quality emergency care and evolves to match the needs of the patients, the department, the hospital, and the community.
  • Ascertains the continuous and timely delivery of efficient and effective clinical services to patients. Develops and maintains an effective patient care quality control program. Advises the CMO on matters related to Emergency Medicine.
  • Oversees and evaluate the performance of Physicians within the Emergency Medicine Unit.
  • Develops, formulates and recommends policies and procedures, protocols, programs and operating budget.
  • Incorporates quality improvement data and/or patient satisfaction data into unit goals.
  • Serves on committees as may be assigned by the Management.
  • Ensure fair implementation of on-call lists for attending Physicians and Consultants through continuous monitoring and patient feedback.
  • Investigate and respond to patient complaints or grievances related to patient care in the Emergency Medicine Unit.
  • Continuously monitors patient experience and patient flow process, takes actions whenever needed and recommends changes to enhance the flow for a better patient experience and quality of service.
  • Responsible for the department’s personnel administration activities including working schedules, job assignment, and training and performance evaluation. Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • MD degree.
  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine. ER Jordanian Boarded, Additional UK/ US Board preferable.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Emergency Medicine in different healthcare settings.
  • Leading experience is a must.
