Duty Engineer

Job Summary

Duty Engineer in the Facility Management Department at Abdali Hospital, is responsible to assist in the operation and maintenance of the hospital's engineering systems. The engineer will support senior engineers and technicians in ensuring that infrastructure components operate safely and efficiently. The engineer presence on the ground helps guarantee a timely response to technical issues, contributing to the safety and comfort of patients, staff, and visitors.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • On-Site Support: Assist in monitoring and maintaining hospital infrastructure systems including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, medical gas systems, elevators and building management system (BMS).
  • Helpdesk Operations: Receive, log, and prioritize maintenance service requests during the shift. Coordinate with team members to ensure timely response and resolution and update the system with accurate follow-up and closure of tasks.
  • Routine Inspections: Conduct regular rounds to check equipment condition and operational status. Report abnormalities or issues to the immediate supervisor.
  • Troubleshooting Assistance: Help identify and resolve technical problems. Perform basic repairs or escalate to the appropriate team member for complex issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate shift logs including incidents, readings, and completed tasks. Ensure service records and reports are properly updated.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and hospital policies when performing engineering tasks. Promptly report any unsafe conditions.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations such as power outages, equipment failures, or alarm activations by following established protocols and supporting senior staff.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with team members, nurses, and other departments to ensure timely resolution of issues affecting hospital operations. Report critical incidents to the Facility Manager and escalate issues that require senior-level intervention.


Education

  •  Bachelor degree in Engineering

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Incident/accident reporting & procedures.
  • Sufficient experience of providing maintenance service in a busy organization.
  • Competencies in data entry, analysis, and management.
  • Organizational, time-management, computer and administrative skills. 
  • Good knowledge in email etiquette. 


Experience 

  • Fresh graduate experience, 0-2 years of experience.
