Abdali Hospital collaborates with Harvard Student Agencies to sponsor a Pre-Med Academy for high school students.

Amman, June 2021: Abdali Hospital has established a collaboration with Harvard Student Agencies which is the largest entirely student-run non-profit in the world. Harvard Student Agencies is managed by Harvard College undergraduates offering rigorous Harvard-quality accessible education to middle and high school students.  Abdali Hospital is sponsoring a group of high school students with an interest in medicine to take part in a training program offered by Harvard Student Agencies Pre-Med Academy.

The Pre-Med Academy will introduce high school students to medicine and the day-in-a-life of a physician, and will prepare them for a pre-med education with mentors from an internationally top-ranked university. The course will be taught virtually and in real time by Harvard undergraduates for a week during the summer.

Abdali Hospital is sponsoring 10 students who have demonstrated a compelling motivation to study medicine and who were selected from applicants in the community.  All the students have an excellent academic record and have presented inspiring essays explaining their reasons to apply for the Abdali Hospital Harvard Student Agencies Pre-Med Academy scholarship. The program is being implemented in collaboration with F.I.T.E. (The First Institute for Training and Education) and Jordan is the first country in the region to offer The Academies by Harvard Student Agencies in 2020-21.

“We are very proud to sponsor this program” said Mr. Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh, vice chairman of Abdali Hospital. “Fostering healthcare education is part of our mission. We already conduct formal education with all our clinical staff, and we are in the latest stages of becoming a Post-graduate Training Hospital.

Focusing on high school students motivated to study medicine is another angle to fulfil our mission. We are tremendously impressed by the quality of the students selected, a manifestation of the excellent young talent we have in Jordan. We received applications with a wide range of interests, but all demonstrated a genuine intention to make a difference in their communities. We hope many of these students will take their career dream forward to become excellent physicians and contribute to maintain the edge we have in healthcare in Jordan.”

Mona Naffa Nazzal, manager of the Harvard Student Agencies partnership, said “We are very honoured by our collaboration with Abdali Hospital and excited to complement their vision with their investment in our youth with the scholarship program.  Abdali Hospital is the first organization in Jordan to sponsor and open doors for our future medical professionals. We hope this inspires other organizations to sponsor and support our youth.”
